A tree fruits when the season allows. Positions clearing +5% over cost are plucked and the gain banked โ mechanically, at the moment they ripen, not when someone finally feels brave.
Prune what is decaying
Dead leaves come off before they rot the branch. Anything โ3% under cost is cut, and the loss lands on the ledger with its reason attached.
Keep the roots deep
Cash is treated as an active position. Every options bracket is defined-risk. Futures margin is hard-capped at $1,000. The trunk survives the winter.

Detectors publish the instant a crossing becomes true. Nothing polls a timer hoping to notice in time.
Why a rule beats an intention
A tree doesn't survive winter because it's optimistic. It survives because it follows rules โ shed what's dying, bank what's ripe, keep enough reserve to outlast a season it can't predict. Nature doesn't negotiate with itself. People do. Fear makes you freeze on the trade that needs cutting. Greed makes you hold a winner past the point it was ever going to keep climbing. It's an emotional firewall between you and the moment your judgment is most likely to fail: pruning a decayed branch is cutting the loser at โ3%, no thesis about a recovery required. Harvesting ripe fruit is banking the gain at +5%, no story about how much further it could run. Same rule, applied the same way, on the day it's easy and the day it isn't.
That's the whole design: not to make you smarter on a good day, but to keep the structure standing on a bad one. And the progression is deliberate โ learn the concepts first, practice them where nothing is actually at risk, then watch disciplined automation apply them to a real portfolio without flinching.
